WE ARE HERE ANYWAY … WHY NOT BE GREAT

For me, I just am not a fan of errands.  You know what I am talking about – going to the bank, DMV, grocery story, gas station, etc.  To me, it is just time that I could be doing something better – writing, visiting with friends, working, etc.
                
So, I received the dreaded card from the state that my car needed to have an emissions test.  UGH.  I usually purchase a new car every two years so I had not had one in over ten years.  So, I put it off until the very last day that I could.
                
I picked up a tea on my way because, well, you know me, I have to have a tea when I have to wait.  I was prepared for a long wait which to me was a complete waste of time.  
                
So, I pull up and no line!!!!!  Oh my, I thought well, it might only be like a half hour or so.  Nathan waved me in with a big smile.  I thought well, this might go better than I thought.  Nathan opened my door and said “we will get you in and out in 40 seconds”.  Um, wait, 40 seconds!!!  No way.  I have dreaded this day for two months and he is going to be done in 40 seconds!
                
He opened my car door and directed me to a small room – and opened the door to that small room.  He said “I will see you in 40 seconds”.  And guess what – he was right on.  He said “you are ready to go.  I hope you have a great day”.  I thanked Nathan for his wonderful customer service and explained what I do for a living.  He said “we are here to serve, why not be great”.  WOW.
                
I love that you can get your license sticker at the same location so I went in.  The same great service.  On my way out, I noticed that they were seeking employees.  They start at $8.25/hour.  I am not sure what any of the employees make but they absolutely get it!!!!!
                
Remember, it doesn’t matter how much money you make.  You have the ability to deliver AMAZING customer service in any role!
                
And yes, I have sent Nathan’s supervisor an e-mail.  Nathan had no idea what an impression he made on me that day.  And remember, he had a choice!
