There is no doubt that business owners are busy people. There are so many small details that go into running a successful business that sometimes some of the most important items get overlooked.
Establishing a checklist of items can not only be helpful for the business but for their bottom line.
Google My Business
Be sure to check your Google My Business page by Googling your business. You will see the information about your business on the right-hand side. Make sure everything is correct – your hours, your address, your e-mail, etc. Also, is there any information missing? Update as needed and write a note once a quarter to check this page.
Remember, this is what people are Googling to find your business. Be sure to check your competitor businesses’ Google My Business page. You might pick up some good ideas.
Website
Make a frequency checklist of the updates that need made. What are people looking for on your website? In many cases, your hours, events, specials, etc. Things that turn off people when they visit your website – outdated information.
Think about going to a website, looking for a menu for a restaurant, deciding to go to the restaurant and the menu is totally different when you get there. Again, would suggest always visiting competitor websites to gather ideas and do’s and don’ts.
Business checklist
Have you ever walked in the same door as the customer? In many cases, employees arrive through a different entrance so rarely see what the customer sees. Your checklist could include an overview of what the customers might see – unkempt landscaping, messy waiting area, overflowing trash cans, dusty pictures on the wall – you see my point.
This checklist can only be successful if the staff understands the importance of the first impression. You can change up who marks the checklist and who ultimately makes any needed changes. First impressions are important.
